黄龙景区 (Huáng Lóng Jǐng Qū)Huáng Lóng Scenic Area

Huang Long is another one of the attractions in the Jiu Zhai Gou area. This park is not as big and is more well known for the crystal clear blue pools of water and lakes. When the water levels are high it is highly recommended for a visit. If there was a comparison between Jiu Zhai Gou and Huang Long, Jiu Zhai Gou would win out. However, if you have the time it is highly recommended that you go to both of them.
Before you go to Huang Long ask some of the hostel workers and other travelers how it looks. If they give you the thumbs up, then give a shot. If they say that there wasn’t that much water or anything along those lines, then call it off. When the water levels are low it is not worth the trip.
How to get there?
You will need to arrange a car ride, which can be done with the help of your hostel owner. This will be a long car ride. It will take between 2 and 2 1/2 hours to get to Huang Long from Jiu Zhai Gou. This means that you will be in a car for anywhere between 4 and 5 hours in one day and driving through the mountains. If, you are prone to motion sickness either bring a large bag or some pills to help you.
How long should you stay in Huang Long?
This will be a day trip from Jiu Zhai Gou. It really doesn’t matter which one you go to first Huang Long or Jiu Zhai Gou. However, it might be better to go to Huang Long first and then Jiu Zhai Gou. The reason why is because Jiu Zhai Gou is a more impressive place and once you see Jiu Zhai Gou you may not appreciate Huang Long as much in comparison. Also, because you will do an extreme amount of walking in Jiu Zhai Gou which will leave you feet and calves sore. If you are prone to chafing, then you will definitely not want to start off your trip here chafing on the first day and suffering for the next 2 or 3.
The Ticket Price
The ticket price is more or less the same price as the ticket price of Jiu Zhai Gou. So expect to pay around 200 RMB for the entrance ticket to Huang Long.
